Botanical Garden

The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, also called Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, is a huge tourist attraction which is located near by the village Pamplemousses and thus eight kilometers away from Port Louis.



General facts

The Botanical Garden comprises an area of 37 hectares. A zone of 26 Hectares is open and can be visited by tourists. The rest of the garden is used as agricultural area.

The garden is especially famous for its tremendous water-lilies and talipot palms. Additionally, the park offers a huge as well as diverse number of exotic spicery, ebonies and sugar canes. Furthermore, different kinds of palms from Central America, Asia or Africa can also be found at the site.

The quiet and peaceful atmosphere invites the visitors to stay, relax and enjoy tropical nature.



Good to know:

The entrance fee for tourists is 200 rupees per person whereas residents pay an amount of only 25 rupees per person. Many mosquitos have its home in the garden, therefore it is recommendable to bring anti-mosquito spray.
